Artistic signature
Art for a Better Tomorrow: Yayen is a multi-media artist who uses basic art materials to craft visually arresting narratives exploring pressing social issues around healthcare and the environment. He has a distinct fondness for experimental and unorthodox techniques, notably using circular strokes - reinforcing the idea of endless continuity and meditative immersion, which form a signature style in his work. His philosophy is to create art that inspires and leads to meaningful impact.
Motivations
As a migrant nurse caring for the elderly and those with dementia, Yayen is inspired by the courage of individuals who leave their homelands to make a difference, especially people of colour. He aims to celebrate and honour their stories and achievements, rekindling their purpose through his paintings.
A deep love for nature also drives him. Growing up in one of the most beautiful and biodiverse places on the planet, he has a profound passion for conservation. His environmental themes are rooted in the belief that human and environmental health are deeply interconnected.
Engagements
Breaking through in the UK: Yayen aims to harness art to create a meaningful impact on healthcare and environmental issues. As a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, he is open to collaborations with artists and institutions that share his vision of art as a tool for social change.
